Convert 3MF to STL for Bambu Lab Studio

A 3MF saved from Bambu Studio is a whole project — plate, lid, build plate texture and all. Flattening it to STL in the browser gives you only the parts you modelled.

What is actually inside a Bambu Studio 3MF

Bambu Studio saves more than geometry. The archive carries the objects you modelled plus editor metadata: the slice plate outline, a lid, the build plate texture, filament references and thumbnails. Open it in the converter with STL selected and you get raw geometry only — exactly what you want when the plate and lid are not part of the design.

Convert 3MF to STL in your browser

  • Add the .3mf. Nothing is uploaded — the archive is unpacked in the tab.
  • Keep binary STL. Compact and instant in Bambu Studio; switch to ASCII only if a specific tool insists on text.
  • Download, then place in Bambu Studio. Parts arrive at their original relative positions, so nothing needs re-aligning.
  • Usual size caveat. Files above 150 MB are refused to keep the tab responsive. Re-save or split the project first.

When Bambu Studio complains after conversion

  • “Non-manifold mesh” warning. A repair prompt, not a conversion bug. Bambu Studio can usually fix it; for stubborn models repair the mesh upstream first.
  • Watertightness errors. Real holes in the source model. STL cannot invent geometry.
  • Everything sits at the origin. That is the classic symptom of a hand-edited 3MF; re-export from Bambu Studio before converting.

Tip: if your 3MF came from PrusaSlicer or Cura instead, the same three steps apply — the format of the source matters far less than the STL you take away.

Why staying local matters

Convert 3MF to STL without sending a byte to a server and the choice stays yours: confidential prototypes, client work and unreleased designs never touch someone else's disk. The troubleshooting hub covers the rest of the usual failure modes.

Frequently asked

Why does my Bambu Studio 3MF convert to something wrong?

Bambu Studio writes a full project, not a pure mesh — plate, lid, bed texture and preset references ride along. Flattening to STL keeps only the modelled geometry.

Will parts stay aligned after converting 3MF to STL?

Yes. Object instances and their per-item 4×4 transforms are resolved before flattening, so assemblies keep their layout.

Bambu Studio warns about non-manifold STL — is that my fault?

No, it is a repair prompt about the source geometry. Let Bambu Studio auto-repair, or fix the mesh in the authoring tool first.

Do I have to upload the file?

No. Parsing and encoding run in your browser tab; the page has no upload endpoint and stores nothing.
